NOVEMBER 9, 2009
Jeep
Van Wormer and his #55 Dirt Late Model team closed out their
version of the 2009 racing season last week (November 4-7)
at the pristine Dirt Track at the Lowe's Motor Speedway
in Concord, North Carolina. The World of Outlaws Late Model
Series sanctioned a trio of races at the Charlotte area
venue last week and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs
in each race. With over 80 race teams in attendance, Jeep
was able to transfer into the feature event on two different
occasions and wound up with a pair of top ten performances.
The Pinconning, Michigan native finished ninth in the
'Topless Showdown' on Thursday after starting from the
outside of the third row and later ran seventh in night
one of the 'World Finals' on Friday after passing eight
cars during the 50-lapper. Unfortunately, Jeep was unable
to make the starting field for the 'World Finals' finale
on Saturday at Lowe's after finishing tenth in his heat
race and sixth in his B-Main. You can view complete results
from the action-packed week by visiting www.worldofoutlaws.com. |

OCTOBER 19, 2009 The
Iron Motorsports team and driver Jeep Van Wormer trekked
south to the refurbished Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg,
Indiana over the October 17-18 weekend for the 29th Annual
'Dirt Track World Championship.' The crown jewel event once
again paid $50,000 to the winner and 71 drivers converged
on Lawrenceburg this weekend to vie for that lucrative top
prize. During preliminary action on Saturday afternoon,
Jeep qualified fastest in his group in time trials and later
slipped to fourth in his stacked heat race.
On Sunday, Jeep took use of a fast time provisional to
gain access into the 100-lap DTWC main event. After starting
twenty-fifth on the grid, the Pinconning, Michigan driver
completed 99 laps around the 3/8-mile, high-banked complex
and passed nine cars on his way to a sixteenth place finish.
